How do small business owners protect their shops against crime in Brownsville?  This was the question my group and I were trying to answer for our research project in Brownsville.

Our main objective in this project was to learn how to approach design by identifying the needs and learning belief systems of the communities we would be conducting research in and eventually creating solutions for. Our project had a research phase that took five weeks. In these five weeks we traveled to Brownsville to conduct fieldwork. We practiced research methods by engaging with stakeholders through ethnographic methods, such as interviews and behavioral interventions.

Through our weekly data analysis we identified insights and patterns and were able to pinpoint possible intervention areas where a need could be addressed.
